The automotive industry provides jobs to millions of people and generating billions of dollars in revenue. The industry includes manufacturers, distributors, dealers, and suppliers of vehicles, parts, and services. Automotive production in America has been around since the early 1900s and has grown exponentially since then with 20 million cars produced in the US annually.
The US automotive industry is divided into three main segments: original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), aftermarket suppliers and dealers. The industry employs more than 2.5 million people with the total economic output of the sector estimated to be more than $500 billion. In order to remain competitive, companies must focus on innovation, quality and customer service while adapting to changing technologies and trends.
